Do you think of the Sonora Desert as a dry, lifeless pile of rocks? You need to visit after the winter rains or summer monsoons. The water energizes hardy desert plants into blooming dazzling displays of color. April is the primary spring-blooming season, followed by prickly pears in early May and the Saguaros in late May and early June. Summer monsoons can cause a wide variety of flowers at the end of July and early August. The blooming season is short. Sightings are fully appreciated by those that strap on their boots and hit the trails. Please scroll down and enjoy the Desert Flowers Photo Gallery.
